The son and heir to Ar-Adûnakhôr, who became the twenty-first ruler, and eighteenth King, of Númenor. His father was the first King to take his name in the Adûnaic tongue, and Ar-Zimrathôn established this tradition by doing the same, though the Elvish form of his name, Tar-Hostamir, is also recorded.
Ar-Zimrathôn held the Sceptre of Númenor for seventy-one years, and was succeeded by his son, who ruled as Ar-Sakalthôr.

The name Zimrathôn is not explained, and the Adûnaic elements that make it up are unknown. Its Elvish equivalent is given as Hostamir, which seems to mean 'many jewels', so the implication is that this King possessed or collected great numbers of jewels or gemstones. Note that the Adûnaic and Elvish names of Númenórean Kings were not always direct translations of one another, and so this interpretation is necessarily speculative.
