King of Durin's Folk, son and heir of Náin II, and ancestor of both Thorin II Oakenshield and Dáin II Ironfoot. During the time of his rule, Dragons multiplied in the northern lands and attacked the Dwarves. Dáin himself was slain by one of these, and was succeeded as King of Durin's Folk by his eldest son Thrór.
